If you haven't met with Marsha regarding current college applications for UC, CSU or private colleges, please see her as soon as possible.

Financial Aid Information Night at MVHS is open to all grade levels.  It's never too early to begin the process.  Learn about FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), CSS Profile--Required by most private colleges, how divorce/business/real estate affect financial aid, and scholarships.  All students should apply for financial aid, regardless of their family's income or circumstances.  Applying may still qualify students for scholarships, work-study or low interest loans for both students and parents.  The night takes place on Wednesday, December 2nd from 7- 9 pm at the Monte Vista Theatre.  No need to RSVP.

The Financial Aid Information Night at Dougherty Valley High School is for senior parents to learn more about the financial aid process.  Learn more about the FAFSA, find out other ways to help finance an education and ask questions about funding education.  This meeting takes place Tuesday, February 2nd, 7-9 pm at DVHS Theatre at Dougherty Valley High School.

For guidance and signatures needed on community college forms, please see Marsha. Drop in times are generally Monday-Fridays from 10-noon and 1-3 pm. E-mail her at mmak@srvusd.net to let her know you are coming to see her and she will confirm if she will be at school or not at that time.

A new website has been launched by the US Department of Education. www.college.gov was designed by students for students. It provides relevant, comprehensive information about why to go, how to go, and how to pay for college or other postsecondary education programs. It's a helpful website.

Are you interested in the trades? Many of the union halls are accepting applications now. For a listing of the union halls, see Marsha, the counselor or check out the apprenticeship board at Venture. You need to be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.

College of Alameda accepts 10th-12th graders in their concurrent enrollment program.

Assessment Tests at DVC—In order to register for some math or English courses at DVC/SRVC, concurrently enrolled students must pass assessment tests. Please see Marsha if you will need to take an assessment test. http://www.cvc.edu offers 3690 college courses on-line through many of California college campuses. Venture students may be concurrently enrolled using this system to earn high school and college credit. Please see Marsha Mak, school counselor, to discuss course selection.
